Point and Purpose



Anyone who thinks Bruce Springsteen really rocks yet votes Republican hasn't seen the point. I guess, likewise, that anyone who is really into Arnie's movies and votes Democrat hasn't seen the point either. On the other hand, the latter is a better vote -- not only for those of us at home, but also, and more so, for the rest of us all over the world.

On the other hand .....



Mexico is nothing if not profoundly complex. This complexity extends to the sheer contrasts in the materiality of everyday practices and the literacies and other forms of language they encapsulate. If one place on one day has you drowning in the dust of desperation, as it did for me yesterday, another place on the next day has you pondering the priorities of the pious.

Working with Blogs in Xalapa



Today is the final day of a 3 day international seminar hosted by the Universidad Pedagogica Veracruzana (Veracruz University of Pedagogy) on the theme of new literacies. My final session addresses potential educational uses of weblogs, as well as weblogs in everyday life. It will include constructing the basics of a community blog that can be used by the postgraduate program at the university.
