Exciting new doctoral program at the University of California, Irvine


News is just through that UC-Irvine is launching a new doctoral program that's very much in keeping with the times. Here's Rebecca Black's announcement:

Dear colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that a new Ph.D. in Education Program with a
specialization in Language, Literacy, and Technology has been
launched at the University of California, Irvine in Fall 2007. Applications are now being accepted for Fall 2008.

We welcome applicants with backgrounds and interest in literacy,
language learning, applied linguistics, education, TESOL, educational
media, or any other area related to language, literacy, and technology. Students in the program will take course work and conduct dissertation research on topics such as second language learning, reading and writing development, technology and
literacy, online learning, videogames and learning, and multimedia in
education, focusing on both school and out-of-school settings.
