What would you do...
..if you had an iPod video player? I have asked this question myself a number of times, and quite disparagingly too, given that the battery life certainly won't let you play an entire movie. But the question has stuck with me and I can't get it out of my head -- due in no small part, I'm sure, to a friend mentioning that the iPod Video player will no doubt spur a sharp rise in porn movie shorts sales (somehow that sentence doesn't seem to read quite right, but tinkering with it only makes it worse). Anyway, here is what I would do if I owned an iPod Video (which I don't, and don't want to; I'm more than happy with my trouble-free 30gig iPod and my happily Colin-repaired 40gig iPod. Frankly, the thought of yet another iPod in my life makes my head wobble):
- Download every single one of DoCopenhagen's top 50 music videos for 2005
- Subscribe to Tiki Bar TV
- Download all the video clips from Richard Bangs' Expedition Panama because anything and everything to do with pirates is always interesting
- And, of course, everything ever made by ATMO

More podcasting search engines
Wired points to two new podcast search engines, Podzinger and blinkx. Both engines let you search for keywords within a cast, and Podzinger will actually take you to the section in the podcast where your keyword appears.

The internet understands me!
Here is a lovely summary of my work week that nicely captures the gentle and logical ebb and flow of each day.... (via Why, That's Delightful!).

Lessig podcast
Digital Village Voice (via BoingBoing) is podcasting an hour-long phone interview with internet copyright law analyst, Lawrence Lessig. In the interviww, Larry (I can call him that because I've been to lunch and dinner with him at a conference [grin]) talks about the Google Print initiative, and about music and DRM flags. Always well worth listening to!

Rethinking "Hello, Kitty!"
Saiman Chow, and his brother, Albert, have forced me to rethink my position on "Hello, Kitty!" as a pathetic girly icon, thanks to their fantastic claymation of an extremely robust Kitty getting by with just a little help from her friends.
'Tis the season for iPods
Not everyone is a fan of iPods, for all sorts of reasons, which I understand after hearing about a friend's horrible experience with having her iPod screen crack the second time she used it and Apple refusing to replace it, and the ongoing troubles I'm having with my 40gig model... I do still love iPods though--especially my 20gig model--but I would never, ever, under any circumstances, wanna dress like one!!
Design
The art of design has always been really important to me--most likely tied to the reason my parents decided my first name would only have one 'L' in it (because it "looked better" when they wrote out my entire name)--and poorly designed stuff makes me grind my teeth in frustration (lots of education curricula and lots of screw-top jars seem to have this effect on me...). Bad Design Kills aims at educating the general public in the nuances of good design by kitting people--a kind of counter-meme approach to unimaginative and uncreative design mindsets.
